Photo Resizing

These are instructions for Photoshop, but most programmes use a similar method. Some programmes will overwrite the original image using this method, so be sure to save a copy first!

  1. Select the image you want to resize, then go to the main menu bar and select Image › Image Size to open the Image Size dialog box.

  2. In the Fit To drop-down menu, use the Width and Height numbers to resize to 1600 x 1200 pixels.

  3. The chain link icon next to Width and Height constrain its proportions — whatever adjustments happen to the width correspond in the image’s height. If your image is a different ratio, change just one of the measurements to keep the proportion.

  4. Click OK to apply the changes to your image.

  5. In some programmes you can change the image size through the 'Export' menu, and you will be able to make the changes and save the image under a new name.

Triptych

A triptych is a selection of three complementary photographs, laid out together. They can complement each other by theme, or be a sequence of shots telling a story. Usually, we run the tryptych competition alongside our AGM meeting, and the winners are voted for by our members.
